Holy Week 2024

Holy Week is the name for the week leading up to Easter, starting with Palm/Passion Sunday and continuing through Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday. We gather in worship to hear the sacred stories of Jesus’ final week on Earth, and his journey to the upper room, garden, cross, and tomb.

The online Sunday Worship Server Sign-up has been updated for Holy Week. Please sign-up to serve during worship for Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter morning. Several additional readers are also needed for Good Friday. If you have questions, please let Pastor Tania know.

The Lenten journey comes to an end with Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The confirmation students will also share the Passion story from Mark’s gospel. We pray, share in the Lord's Supper, sing, and find ourselves in Jesus’ story.

“A new commandment I give you: love one another.” Jesus showed his love by washing the feet of his disciples, teaching them to love one another, and giving his very life for them. That same love is for us who follow him now. We receive forgiveness of our sin through absolution and receive God's grace through the bread and cup given for us in Holy Communion.

Service of Tenebrae (Light and Darkness) and Prayer around the Cross

"Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end." On Good Friday, we remember that not even death itself could stop Jesus from living out his love for the world. Gathered around the cross, we hear the story of the crucifixion and pray for this world God so loves.
