Christmas Eve At Grace Lutheran, Adel

Join us for a Christmas Eve Celebration at 5:00 p.m. or 7:00 pm.

The 5:00 service will be online only. It will be similar to our usual Christmas Eve service with lots of Christmas carols throughout the service. We ask that those of you who plan to worship with us at 5:00 make sure that you have a candle for each person and a lighter so that you can light your candle(s), turn the lights off and sing together Silent Night at the end of the service

The 7:00 service will be a parking lot service and will be shorter—30-40 minutes at most. We’ll invite people to access Zoom from their cars, though most parts of the service will happen live. Wor-shipers will receive a battery-operated candle as they enter the parking lot, and at the end of the ser-vice, we’ll invite everyone to get out of their cars, light their candles, and sing Silent Night together. Who knows how cold it will be

We need different kinds of help this year!

Musicians! We’re looking for as many people as possible who are willing to video themselves (some or all of a family group) singing a verse or two of one of the Christmas carols so—even though we won’t be physically together—we’ll all be singing with someone. We’ll play those videos on Zoom during one or both services.

Photographs! We’d also like members and friends of Grace to text or e-mail us Christmas family pictures. They are no rules; pictures can be old or new, formal or silly, nuclear or extended family, as long as they are filled with joy (well, I guess that’s a rule). Christmas trees, lights, or decorations will make the sharing of the photos even more festive.

Different Kinds of Ushers! We’ll need various kinds of help for the 7:00 outdoor service, includ-ing distributing and collecting candles and helping people park their cars in what will likely be a different orientation than we’re used to.

Assisting Ministers and Other Readers! All the readings will be done on Zoom because that’s our only means for making sure parking lot worshipers can hear the service.
