Readings & Prayer

The Bible is central to our worship and life of faith. We believe that the Bible is not old words, rather it is God’s living voice which speaks to us new each day. Readings, prayers, and language for worship are rooted in Scripture.

The Scripture readings during worship come from the Revised Common Lectionary, a three-year cycle of Bible texts used by many Christians in North America. The lectionary texts also connect us to the rhythms and themes of the church year. Lectionaries have been used since the earliest church, one of many practices that keep us grounded in the traditions of our faith.

Many Christians also read the Bible and/or devotionals as part of their personal spiritual practices. There are so many options and resources for personal Bible reading and daily devotional prayer – the following are just a few!

Resources for personal Bible reading and daily devotional prayer:

Weekly Readings for Worship:
Year C - Lent (3/5/2025 - 4/13/2025)
Year C - The Three Days: (4/17/2025 - 4/19/2025)

Daily Bible Reading - The daily readings expand the range of biblical reading in worship and personal devotion by providing daily citations for the full three-year cycle of the Revised Common Lectionary. These readings complement the Sunday and festival readings: Thursday through Saturday readings help prepare the reader for the Sunday ahead; Monday through Wednesday readings help the reader reflect on and digest what they heard in worship.
